According to information available to the Association, the victims identified as, Mr. Charlie Itoyio, Mr. Igoni Geoffrey, and Mr. Itode Imiete Tenegheni, were engaged in their usual timber operations when they allegedly discovered that some of their processed wood had been stolen.
Following efforts to trace the missing timber, they reportedly identified its location and returned to continue their work. It was during the work process that they were ambushed and attacked by a group of heavily armed boys they identified as youths from the neighboring Community called Odau.

The victims while narrating their ordeal, confirmed that the assailants were a group of about fifteen youths from odau community, including individuals identified as IMELA VICTOR, IMMARA LUCKY, EDUCATION CHUKWUMAZIE, and twelve others whose identities are yet to be fully established as at the time of filling this report.
The Obedum Youth Association views this act as of manslaughter, barbaric and a clear affront to peace, and the longstanding coexistence between neighbouring communities.

Such acts of violence, coercion, and lawlessness have no place in any civilized society and must not be tolerated and it is capable of instigating intercommunal war which the youths are not afraid of.
We therefore call on the relevant security agencies, the leadership of the Odual kingdom and the Abua/Odual Council Authority to conduct a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation into this heinous crime against humanity.

Those found responsible should be brought to justice in accordance with the law as the community youths don't want to take laws into their hands.
We also urge the authorities to take immediate steps to prevent any further escalation and to safeguard the lives and property of innocent citizens in both communities.
While we remain committed to peace and the rule of law, we will continue to demand justice for our people and insist that such acts of genocide, regardless of whose oxed is gored, are addressed accordingly and without hesitation.
The culprits should be brought to book in order to prevent a similar trend.
